Update: Bravo! Foursquare Snags a TV Partnership

WHY THIS IS STILL IMPORTANT –

Everyone is jumping on board.  Partnering up with offline business spreads the brand, creates additional revenue streams and adds another level to viewer interaction.  With ad revenue falling for TV, companies must find as many different avenues to make money instead of relying on one.

I Heart ACE

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT-

The Ace Hotel has done a tremendous job of designing every aspect of their hotels.

There is no space too small or mundane that should not be made into an artistic moment.

Murals in the stairwells? Check.  Macramé installations in the lobby. Sure.

Make your space a living and breathing item.  Give them life not cultural whitewashing like a chain hotel.  Homogenous is out.  Here is to the unique.

Cheers.

Dating On The Go

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT -

Location, location, location.

One of the big trends for 2010 is real time, location based applications.  So whatever you can do from a computer, you can now do from wherever you are.

That means finding a date NOW at the bar around the corner, finding items on sale NOW on the block your walking or finding out when a fresh hot pizza has just come out of the oven at the pizza place next door as you are getting hungry.

Keep an eye on this trend because it will create a series of micro industires.

Ratner The Mogul

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT-

No matter what you think of Brett Ratner, there is no denying his hustle.

Brands need stories and have begun to seek out more storytellers. Advertising gives a slogan and hints at a story – Hollywood goes further.

Ratner is ahead of the game and setting up a very interesting business model while building tremendous Fortune 500 contacts. Million dollar retainer. That’s a good gig.

Bravo! Foursquare Snags a TV Partnership

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT-

No longer can you rely on engaging viewers in one way using one medium.

Bravo recognizes what NBC’s hit show BIGGEST LOSER has capitalized on – take your viewers offline to build your brand and line your pockets. Make your content a lifestyle.

And using an infrastructure that already exists (Foursquare) – doubly smart – no need to re-invent the wheel.

A Designed Life

The most important skills for navigating the 21st century?  Storytelling and Design.

You must design experiences, not things.  You must tell stories, not recite stats.

Soon everything will be video.

The printed word will continue to infinitely have its place but soon we will organize everything by video and picture.
