The MIT Media Lab is the equivalent to the UCONN Women Huskies Basketball squad. Both are the most dominant, hardest working, most decorated programs in their respective fields.

MIT’s Media Lab is the school’s most famous program and contains the deepest collection of talent relating to interactive telecommunications. Its design, wrapped up in technology and theory and anything else cutting edge. And now they have a beautiful facility.

The new generation participates in storytelling instead of letting it be preached to them. This article also talks about creating games in the realm of social change. RJ Cutler who made THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE talks about Anna’s management style. I think the best bit is about having shorter meetings. Know what the agenda is and get through it.

Do it fast.

So much time is wasted in meetings and the entertainment biz is the worst. Prepare, execute and move on. Also, get the best talent to buy into something bigger than themselves and you have a recipe for success. It’s easy to imagine Anna running any major company – she is a CEO thru and thru.

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT –

An idea is virtually worthless. In an era of crowd sourcing and futuristic collaboration tools – most likely someone else has your idea as well. What matters is execution – turning midnight ideas into day time realities. Stop talking – start doing. Talk is cheap. Stop worrying about someone ‘stealing’ your idea and get it made/produced/created. The idea is only one part of the process – important but it’s how you make it and market it and distribute it.

When you are the upstart – you can’t play by the rules established by the party in power because those rules are designed to keep that party in power.

Be unconventional and work harder – those are your two advantages.

Quincy Smith has the connections, experience and media savvy to be a big time player. Or rather bigger than he already is. You know you are in a good when you leave a job and your former employer (CBS) signs up to be your first client.

Its just important that you know his name and follow his new company CODE Advisors. I heard this guy speak at a Paley Center event last year and he is super legit.
