Culture Mash Ups

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT -

Just as the music industry has been sampling and mixing styles, beats and genres – the cross over is now happening in TV, film and culture as well.  Here is a hilarious rap parody by Aziz Ansari that mixes several streams of culture.

A mixing of characters, real and fake seems commonplace but truly is kinda a new deal.  NYMag does a good job describing. While there are spin offs al the time – mixing reality, fake characters and social media is its own genre.  It requires hyper acuity to the cultural landscape but its really sweet.

KEO – Kutcher Executive Officer

WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT -

Mock him all you want.  Ashton Kutcher is a guy who gets it and has positioned himself at the nexus of celebrity and technology and as we all know those are two lucrative places to be.

Appreciate a guy who is building an empire – he is leveraging his relationships not for US Weekly covers (although he has those) but rather for incredible contacts domestically and now abroad.

Just check out the list of his fellow diplomats – heavy hitters.

Bravo recognizes what NBC’s hit show BIGGEST LOSER has capitalized on – take your viewers offline to build your brand and line your pockets. Make your content a lifestyle.

And using an infrastructure that already exists (Foursquare) – doubly smart – no need to re-invent the wheel.
